Yes, yes we do. Itachi is a psychopath. All ninjas are to some extent, I'd imagine, but Itachi just takes the cake. This story is an experiment of sorts, written pre-recent canon revelations, of what would happen if he had a mom like our Mikoto. We've actually toned him down considerably.
So true. We did that on purpose, actually. (Not just because its more fun…) Because canon Itachi is in many ways batshit crazy and we felt it was important to carry that over. As my partner said, there would have to have been something different and that difference is our Mikoto. We love her too.

Well, he's hot. And he's elite. Sakura is intrigued by his reputation, and somewhat flattered by his attention.
Besides, she’s too stubborn to back away unless he really gives her a reason. Defeat is a word she has erased from her vocabulary and this did start out as a game of sorts.

Sakura isn't looking for a relationship. She's got all she needs. Also, he's creepy. And while ninjas would have a distinctly less 'moral' view about sex, she's not interested in being jerked around.
Besides, if she was going to jump him, she would have done so before things got so complicated between them. Now its become something and having sex with Itachi at this point won’t be something she can just walk away from. She hates to lose.
This was such an awesome question. It really helped us give more consideration to the fact than we were planning to, especially as we'd been so focused on rebuilding Itachi that we hadn't given Team 7's background enough screen time. Hopefully, future flashbacks will help answer this question.

Dude, seriously, it’s the friggin coolest thing ever. We just write. Really though, we just tag back and forth. We collaborate on every paragraph it seems like and when one person gets stuck the other just takes over.
Will we see more of Kakashi?
This story is mostly focused on Itachi and Sakura getting together. Team 7 is a lot older now, as is Kakashi, and he only rotates to work with them on big jobs.

When Itachi said everything, he meant everything, including Sakura's bonds.
Sakura would never tolerate this and neither would Sasuke or Naruto. This is like saying everything they ever worked for is useless. Itachi may not particularly like it but he’s going to have to live with it.
When is Sakura going to call Itachi by his first name?

Yes, in canon, that is the case. Since this is AU, we figure if it's not Itachi it would have been someone else.
We like to think of this as one of those “authorial privilege” moments of ours.
Will Akatsuki / Orochimaru be making a bigger impression in this story in the future?
Since neither of us could write a pwp for the life of us, it’s safe to assume that some more interesting things will be cropping up in the near and quick future. As for who it will involve… let’s say that its not mutually exclusive.
Good question! Mebbe yes, mebbe no, depending on how you look at it. They are certainly reoccurring underlying themes. Don't forget the Sound/Cloud alliance which was revealed in the beginning of the story. But in terms of direct confrontation? Not so much.
So, Itachi is accepting the fact that he loves Sakura?
I don't know if Itachi would use the word 'love.' I would say that he has come to accept the fact that he wants to protect her, enjoy her, and that she has become very precious to him indeed. 'Love,' though... I'm not sure.
Itachi doesn’t categorize himself into terms such as “love” very easily. He operates on either a much more complex level or one that runs on something more primitive. Take your pick. Either way, he knows himself well enough to know when he isn’t going to be letting go anytime soon.
